Child Find is a part of Special Education in Louisiana schools.
It is designed to identify, locate and evaluate children who may be in need of special education services and are not currently enrolled in school.
Children ages 3 - 21, who may have a special need in one or more of the following areas:
- Speech or Language -Social Development -Vision or Hearing
-Learning Development -Physical or Orthopedic Adaptation -Intellectual Development. -Emotional Development
Child Find provides supports for children from 3 to 21 years old.
EarlySteps, Louisiana’s Early Intervention System operates under federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), Part C, as found in PL 108-466 of 2004. They provide supports for infants and toddlers aged birth to three years (36 months) who have a medical condition likely to result in a developmental delay, or who have developmental delays. EarlySteps provides a wide range of services including Speech-Language, Occupational, and Physical Therapy.
